Frequently Asked Questions
What services do European Archaeological Surveyors provide?
We offer a range of aerial-based archaeological and heritage surveying services, including: heritage statements tailored to planning compliance, landscape surveys (non-drone and drone-assisted), Roof and building surveys, GIS support and heritage impact assessments, Pre-purchase archaeological assessments, and Drone services for detailed imaging.
What is a heritage statement, and when is it needed?
A heritage statement assesses how proposed development may impact historically significant sites. We produce planning-compliant reports designed to support property renovations, extensions, or new developments — particularly in areas such as Yorkshire, Oxfordshire, and Hampshire.
Do you offer drone-based surveys, and what types?
Yes, we conduct drone-assisted landscape and roof surveys to capture detailed aerial imagery for archaeological analysis. We also utilise other aerial imagery — such as satellite and LiDAR — for comprehensive coverage and analysis.
What are your qualifications and what technology do you use?
All our team members hold at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology or a related field and at least an A2 Certificate of Competence and are trained across multiple aerial imaging technologies—including satellite, drone, and LiDAR. We also integrate machine learning to enhance efficiency and the accuracy of archaeological detection.
Where do you operate?
While based in the UK (predominantly Yorkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire), we undertake projects anywhere across Europe and beyond — especially in research and transnational heritage initiatives.
How can you support research or academic projects?
We provide geospatial expertise for research projects in landscape archaeology, including GIS mapping, advanced data processing, predictive modelling, and machine learning-driven analysis. We have experience working with both institutional and independent researchers.
What makes European Archaeological Surveyors unique?
We combine cost-effective, rapid surveying with advanced aerial technologies and professional standards. Our open communication approach ensures client satisfaction throughout every phase of the project.
